4th April 2020 EnviroTech Day Gympie.  Postponed Technologies making our community sustainable.

This day is organized by Gympie Community Solar Assn in conjunction with Gympie Regional Council, Gympie Landcare and Gympie Living Magazine.  The day is highlighting all sorts of technologies that may be used to reduce energy and water use, reduce waste and increase recycling.  This reduces the costs for individuals, businesses and the community as well as providing environmental benefits.  There are technologies for:

  • Energy, especially solar installations, energy audits and demonstrations of the financial and environmental gains from solar installations,

  • Transport, a wide range of Electric Vehicles from a Hylux 4 x 4 converted to be fully electric to numerous makes and models of Electric Vehicles, including road bikes,

  • Agriculture, QFF Farmer energy savers program and  land management advice and the use of microbats to control pest insects in Horticultural crops and reduce pesticide use,

  • Waste and recycling, ideas to filter and reuse water, recycle more of your rubbish so less new material is used, plastics from hairdressing saloons are recycled to produce prosthetic limbs for kids,

  • Sustainable buildings and lifestyles, well designed buildings use a lot less energy than otherwise, small houses, composting toilets, and food less traveled,

  • Small equipment all battery powered,  garden maintenance tools, engines for boats, bikes and tricycles for those wishing to get some help along their rides.

There are also a range of food and drinks available on site.

This day is about our community taking large and small steps to making our community more sustainable.  Every thing here can help to reduce our use of energy derived from fossil fuel.  This will help the minimize the serious adverse impacts of global warming induced climate change.  We do not want this past summer to be normal for our grandchildren.

All come to see how you may help to make our community sustainable.
